Robert J. Frost CFP, CLU, ChFC, TEP – CEO
Robert Frost, CEO, specializes in providing high-net-worth clients with customized solutions tailored to grow their assets and protect income. His practice areas include succession, estate and financial strategies.
Rob’s long list of accomplishments and industry contributions include: membership in the Top of the Table and The International Forum, member of ADVOCIS, board member for Life Underwriters Association, instructor at Grant MacEwan College, and presenter for numerous organizations including ACCESS the Education Station and the Canadian Bar Association.
Rob was young when his first spark of desire to get into financial services was ignited. Fuelled by the respect and admiration earned in the industry by his father, Ernie, Rob was inspired to follow in his footsteps.
Before succumbing to cancer, Ernie told Rob to seek out Wayne Cotton when he was ready to transition into the financial services industry. In 1985, Rob went to see Wayne only to be surprised to learn that Wayne wasn’t interested in hiring him. Wayne was in the top one percent of insurance producers in the world and was busy promoting, worldwide, a newly developed client acquisition system for advisors. Understandably, he didn’t have time to bring on someone new.
Not taking no for an answer, Rob persisted and after a week Wayne conceded, but only under some strict guidelines. Wayne wanted to create an environment where the business was part of your life, not that your life was a part of the business, so he put the following strict guidelines in place for Rob: no working evenings or weekends, an annual family holiday was a must, and qualifying for the Million Dollar Round Table in his first year. In response, Rob did not work evenings or weekends, vacationed with his family in both July and August, and qualified for MDRT twice.
After experiencing much success in his own practice, Rob was inspired to pass on these values of family first and hard work to new financial advisors. Total Financial Solutions (TFS) was born in 2002 and began its rapid path of growth and development. Advisors have come from across the country to be part of the TFS’s team, with the team continuing to grow as additional entrepreneurial-minded partners are identified.
TFS was born with a vision of an organization rich in individuals who want the best for their families, their communities and their clients. With this ideal in mind, Rob fosters an environment of prosperity by attracting and building leaders who competently coach others into successful financial services business owners. Today, TFS exists to develop world class financial advisors whose talents will positively impact society and the world around them. Rob and his wife Lynn, having been married since 1980, are blessed with four children, a son and daughter-in-law, and two beautiful grandsons. They are active in their church and community.
Scott A. Reed B.Comm, CFA – Chief Financial Officer
Scott started in the financial services industry with Proforma Capital and Total Financial Solutions in 2002 after completing his Bachelors of Commerce degree at the University of Alberta. Scott started working on getting the Chartered Financial Analyst designation shortly thereafter, which he received in May 2006. Scott worked at BearingPoint for a period of time in a compliance and audit role, before returning to Proforma Capital and Total Financial Solutions. Currently his role includes investment analyst. Scott is one of the analysts that reviews investment products and does due diligence before new products are offered through the firm. Also, Scott helps manage a proprietary investment product developed by Proforma Capital. Joseph A. Francese BA, CFP, CFA – Chief Investment Officer
Mr. Francese is Chief Investment Officer of Total Financial Solutions Inc. and PROFORMA Capital Inc. and, along with his partners, manages two proprietary high-income funds for institutional and high-net-worth investors. As CIO, Mr. Francese chairs the investment committee and is responsible for analyzing and monitoring existing and prospective investments, as well as developing investment strategies.
Joe's expertise and experience has been sought after in the past being quoted numerous times in the Edmonton Journal and Sun, contributing many articles on financial planning to the St. Albert Gazette and was a regular guest for 5 years on "Help TV", a nationally broadcasted television show.
As an active member of the community, Joe is involved in many community and professional activities, currently as Vice-President of the Edmonton CFA Society and a Director of Kids Kottage Foundation. In the business community, Joe sits on the board of directors of Titan Trading Analytics (TTA.V), a publicly traded company and EasyRock Products, a private manufacturing company.
Joe holds a BA in Economics from the University of Alberta, Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Charterholder.
Al Thong, BSc., P. Eng., CFP - Advisor
Al’s passion is in helping individuals achieve their goals. Al helps solve his clients’ financial problems and facilitates in the process of reaching their financial goals. His clients realize the value of proactive professional advice, and he simplifies financial decisions and renews his clients' confidence in their ability to achieve financial peace of mind. Most importantly, Al is a trusted advisor who strives to deliver results over time for his clients.

On a personal note, Al has been married to Kathleen since 2003. He always finds time for golf, ultimate frisbee, soccer and to enjoy a good beer with friends. Al and Kathleen love to travel and have travelled all throughout North America, Europe, Australia and Asia.

Angie (Agnieszka) Gurney CFP - Advisor
Angie moved to Canada in 1988 after escaping communist Poland and living in Germany for eight months. Upon graduating from St. Joseph’s High School she worked at various jobs until settling down at Costco in the summer of 1992. While at Costco Angie explored a few positions before finding her niche in the Return to Vendor department. It was during this time that she learned to balance the interactions between customers and vendors.
With 14 years of experience in both customer service and vendor relationships Angie began looking for a more challenging career that would incorporate working with individuals and provide ongoing educational opportunities.
Angie started as a part time advisor with Total Financial Solutions in October 2005 and fell in love with the industry. In July 2006 she made the transition to a full time advisor and also began the educational program to become a Certified Financial Planner. In the past years Angie has worked with many clients from different ethnic groups but has found the most fulfillment through working with the Polish community. Angie operates with the highest level of honesty and integrity. She also strives to educate her clients rather than simply selling a product.
In May of 2008 Angie successfully completed the CFP education program and is always continuing to learn and grow within her profession.
In her spare time Angie enjoys spending time with her daughter and traveling.
Christophe Voegeli BSc, CFP - Advisor
Christophe Voegeli has been with Total Financial Solutions since 2007 and focuses on comprehensive financial planning. Christophe enjoys great excitement from helping people on both a practical and a technical level while balancing today's challenges with tomorrow's goals. He strives to educate his clients so that they may understand their situation and the options available to them. Christophe's main focus is on professionals and families.
Having been in the financial services industry since the age of 19, Christophe realized that preplanning and the understanding of one's financial situation can make a world of difference. It is this concept which Christophe exercises himself and hopes to bestow upon those who chose him as their advisor.
After having completed a degree in mathematical finance from the University of Alberta, Christophe actively researched many firms until he found a fit which satisfied the needs of himself and of his future clientele. He sought a firm which would provide his clients with the best industry options, support, and security. Total Financial Solutions met these needs and Christophe looks forward to many years with both the firm and the clients he strives to satisfy. Christophe has completed his Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation and is working towards his Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charter holder designation
On a personal token, Christophe was born and raised in the Edmonton area. He enjoys mountain biking, body building, and time with friends and family.
Christopher J. Frost, CFP– Advisor
Christopher Frost started in the financial services industry in the fall of 2002. After briefly pursing a career as a pastor, Chris decided to join his father Robert Frost’s business. At first Chris sold RESP’s and then designed health plans for small businesses. He then moved into selling life insurance and investments and is currently the President for Total Financial Solutions.
As President, Chris is responsible for the day to day operations of Total Financial Solutions as well as recruiting and training new financial advisors. His goal is to help advisors attain both time freedom and money freedom. This allows him to not only have an impact on the advisor but also the advisors family and clients as well.
When not at work Chris enjoys being active in his church, water skiing, snow skiing, hiking, camping, and riding his motorcycle. Chris was married to his wife and best friend Dominique in August 2008.
